Low blood sugar levels
The complications arising from diabetes are far less severe and less common in individuals who have a well-regulated blood sugar level. Further, the complications arising from diabetes can be classed as either long-term (chronic) or short-term (acute). Short-term complications can develop at any time and the most common is hypoglycemia:
- Hypoglycemia or low blood glucose level: is a condition brought about by low levels of blood sugar or glucose, which is the body’s primary energy source. It is common in patients taking Insulin. Some common indicators of low blood sugar levels include an irregular heartbeat, fatigue, dull skin, tremors, anxiety, sweating, hunger, and irritability.
As hypoglycemia worsens, some symptoms to expect may include confusion, which often manifests as the helplessness in the face of everyday tasks, seizures, and visual problems such as blurred vision.
Treatment of hypoglycemia
Use soft drinks, candy or glucose tablets, in order to raise blood sugar levels.
